To present the culture of artisanal gelato to the world is our mission, and we are proud to announce that on the 8th of October the first Portuguese site of the Casa Optima School was inaugurated, in partnership with Sulcones, the MEC3 distributor for Portugal.
A school that responds to the training requirements of Portuguese and Spanish Professionals (as well as future professionals), where the art of making real Italian artisanal gelato is taught. Located in Vilamoura – Quarteira, in the Algarve, the school has been furnished with 6 individual fully equipped workstations, to apply the one-to-one method and to immediately put into practice what is explained by the teacher.
The inauguration event was attended by The Mayor of Quarteira, Telmo Pinto, journalists and some customers, who were able to taste some of the latest most popular flavours as well as some of the tasty specialities of Salty Creations, the MEC3 line dedicated to savoury gelato.
“In Portugal, we needed to create a workshop where we could teach the culture of Italian artisanal gelato and make our products and the numerous novelties that are launched every year known, “commented Carlos Mendonça, proprietor of Sulcones. “After a partnership of 25 years, I had no doubts and I strongly desired to open a Casa Optima School location, which will allow us to help many customers and newcomers dreams come true and to achieve the success they deserve in their business. Because our customers’ success, is also our success!”
The first course programmed from the 9th to the 11th of October was the ABC of Gelato, a first level course aimed at all those who want to start a professional career in this wonderful sector.
This will be followed by the course Art of Gelato, to move up to the next level and to deepen one’s technical knowledge, and then the Master of Gelato, aimed at all expert gelato makers in love with their work who want to experiment new recipes to offer to their customers.
New dates and new types of courses will enrich the training calendar in the course of 2025.

To facilitate the training and to give the participants the opportunity to also follow the courses in Portuguese, the lessons will be held by Casa Optima Product specialist Alessandro Iacono, assisted by Sulcones technician Ricardo Mendonça.
The Casa Optima School in Vilamoura-Quarteira is added to those already present in Italy, Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Brazil, the USA, Chile, Mexico, the UAE and China and it will be a place to meet, exchange and compare notes, where one can learn from the experts and be inspired by the experiences of the other participants.
